Accessibility Commitment
Last updated: 3 June 2026
1. Our commitment
Courtyard Commons is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including those who rely on assistive technologies or who have specific access needs. We believe that access to information about local experiences should not depend on a visitor's ability to use a mouse, their screen size, or whether they are browsing with a screen reader.
2. Conformance target
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA across all pages of this site. This is the standard set by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, and covers a broad range of barriers including visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor impairments.
3. Measures we have taken
To support accessibility, this site is built with:
- Semantic HTML elements throughout — headings, navigation landmarks, main content regions, and form labels all use appropriate tags so that screen readers can interpret them correctly.
- Keyboard navigation support — all interactive elements (buttons, links, form fields, toggles) are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone.
- Colour contrast — text and interactive elements are designed to meet a minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio against their backgrounds.
- Reduced-motion support — any motion on the site respects the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query; content is always visible without animation. - Descriptive alt text — all content images carry meaningful, contextually relevant alt attributes.
- Labelled form inputs — every form field has a visible label and a programmatic association, so users do not have to rely on placeholder text alone.
- Focus indicators — focused elements receive a visible ring so keyboard users can track their position on the page.
- Dialog accessibility — the cookie consent dialog uses ARIA attributes and traps focus appropriately when open.
4. Known limitations
The embedded Google Maps iframe is provided by a third-party service and may not be fully keyboard-accessible in all browsers. We provide our full address in text form alongside the map so that users who cannot interact with the iframe still have access to our location details.
5. Reporting an accessibility issue
If you encounter a barrier on this site — a page that is difficult to navigate, content that is missing a label, or anything else that makes it harder to use — please let us know. We take these reports seriously and aim to respond within five working days.
